“Ugh, life is so boring… Hmm, I wonder what my future holds… I better start planning for my future today if I want to succeed in life… Man, I miss the good old days when my friends and I use to hang out and do fun things all day… Things are just not how they use to be… I wish things were different, sigh… I’m going to get married at 27, have 3 kids, a beautiful house, a solid career, and a wonderful husband/wife.”
– Many of Us
These thoughts are the very reason why we get antsy, depressed, indecisive, and inpatient. Living in the past or future will always lead us astray, because when we focus our energy and thoughts on what isn’t happening now, we get further and further away from what can and will be. How are we supposed to prepare for something that hasn’t happened yet? How does one prepare for something if they do not focus on the now… the PRESENT? All that we desire, all of our happiness, all of our success is here in the the present moment. It’s called the present, because the now is a gift from the highest. We can only improve on what is now, not what was or will be.
Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, but today is a gift. That is why it is called the present.

The exciting part of life is allowing life to play its course, unravelling all the ups and downs that will help us become who we desire to be, and to live the life that was meant for us.
Far too many of use choose to live in the past or the future, leaving a small amount, if any, for us to live and enjoy all that is in the now…our blessings. The reason why we decide to elsewhere is because we are unsure what it is we truly want in our lives. We have the idea and see what our future could be, but we are not 100% certain if that’s what we really want for ourselves. The most successful people on this planet are successful, because they KNOW what it is they want, and they also know where they are going.
Successful people have also mastered, eliminating the illusion of control, by removing their “blindfolds” which once obstructed their sight, to allow things to happen as they should, because they are aware that there are no accidents in life. “All things happen as they should.”
I too have finally taken my “blindfolds” off and I can see clearly now. I know what it is I want in my life and I can finally see where I’m going. It’s a wonderful, calming and wholesome feeling. “Things come, things go, but what stays is what’s needed.”
I’m allowing my heart to guide me instead of my eyes. It is said that “the eyes are easily fooled, whereas the heart stays pure and firm.” Allowing my heart to do all the seeing instead of my eyes, I no longer have those antsy, impatient, indecisive and depressed feelings, clouding my essence of life. Living in the now, knowing what it is I want to get out of this life, and knowing where I’m going, makes all the difference in how I experience my life. I’m new at this, because it was not too long ago that I came to this beautiful realization.
I urge all too really practice living in the now, and allowing your heart to do the seeing rather than your eyes. Only do so if you’re tired of living in the past or the future, and having unpleasant feelings be your norm, each day.
I’m going to leave you with this somewhat lengthy, but eye opening quote that has aided me in making this realization.
The secret is here in the present. If you pay attention to the present, you can improve upon it. And, if you improve on the present, what comes later will also be better. Forget about the past, and the future, so that you can live each day according to the teachings, confident that God loves his children. Each day, in itself, brings with it an eternity.
