This morning when I woke up to the radio playing in my room, I heard an inspirational story about a man named Evan Ruggiero. Evan Ruggiero is 21 years young; his childhood dream was to make it big in Broadway until one day life threw him a massive curve ball at the age of 19. Evan was diagnosed with cancer. This really took a toll on him, because instead of focusing on his dream to make it big in Broadway, Evan had to shift all his energy into surviving and overcoming cancer.
For many of us, hearing this type of news especially at such a young age would completely obliterate us. Not for Evan though, he stayed positive throughout his chemotherapy and the required surgery to amputate his right leg, in order to live. Evan stayed positive because he reached deep inside himself and found his inner strength. Finding his inner strength helped him survive cancer and kept pushing him forward, not letting this devastating health concern ruin his dreams or hinder his life in any way.
We should all look at Evan’s story and many more like this to inspire us and help us find our inner strength, so we too can overcome the obstacles “thrown” at us…big or small. Evan Ruggiero embodies a 1Cent-1Life type of character and his story defines it!
It’s amazing what we can overcome/accomplish when we discover our inner strength. Inner strength is such a valuable tool to us. We should learn how to use this tool more often, and not only when something catastrophic happens to us.
So the next time you are faced with a challenge or obstacle, stair it in the face and overcome it by igniting your inner strength! By doing so, you’ll develop more confidence, respect yourself more, love yourself more, and enjoy all that life has to offer.
Look well into thyself; there is a source of strength which will always spring up if thou wilt always look there.
